Located around 40 kilometres south-east of Bologna, and 90 kilometres south-east of Maranello, the historic home of the Ferrari team, the Imola circuit is one of the few to run counter-clockwise. Historically very fast, the track has undergone a number of changes over the years to improve safety. But the track remains one of the fastest. Its very narrow profile, described as "old school", makes it a difficult circuit to overtake.
